Life Equals Blog

the Life Equals Adventure

Wednesday, November 30, 2011
At it's core, Life Equals is a movement built around a belief. That belief is simple: a better you creates a better world.
We believe as you live a healthy life, you're able to multiply that health to the world around you. And if there's one thing our
world desperately needs it's health at the most basic of levels.

The Life Equals movement began 6 months ago. Since that time, we've grown to donate over 20,000 children's
multivitamins
. We've seen a lot of passion around the simple idea that when you Buy Health you can also Give Health. But,
we knew the movement was catching on when we began to receive pictures of new friends representing LIFE= on their
own quests to create a better world.

To share these adventures, we decided to start a Facebook album called the LIFE= Adventure. We would love to have you
a part of it, so send us your picture of LIFE= as you live to create a better world (just email the pic to info@life-equals.com).

Here are some of our favorites so far:

Thanks for joining our movement in creating a better world,

Graham's Revolution.is Article

Monday, August 15, 2011
Last week, Graham wrote an article for Revolution.is. For those unfamiliar, Revolution.is is a website featuring "weekly stories from change-makers and culture-shapers." We ran across the site a few months ago, and it's been a must-read ever since.

Click on the image below to read the rest of Graham's article.

Congrats Graham on being featured! Great job!

Be sure to check back with revolution.is for their challenging and inspiring stories; they typically post twice per week.

I just finished an article by Joe Ippolito on Good.is titled The TOMS Shoe Model: Meaning or Marketing? He had some great things to say, so I wanted to add a little to the conversation by posting a comment on Good. Here is my comment to the article:
Joe,

I really appreciate these thoughts and questions. Responsible business requires thought and asking difficult questions; just slapping the Buy 1 Give 1 model onto a business shouldn't automatically give it the label "they're doing good! Support them!"

As the co-founder of Life Equals, a company that implements the Buy 1 Give 1 model, our team had to ask some serious questions of ourselves and evaluate the ramifications before adopting the model. We started our business with a great product and desire to do social good, but without a specific implementation of that desire. After looking at the particularities of our industry (vitamins & dietary supplements) and the associated global needs, we felt that the Buy 1 Give 1 model fit our intentions as well as provided appropriate aid to those receiving it (in our case: undernourished children receiving multivitamins and nutrients that they otherwise would not have access to).

Though I certainly resonate with your concerns, one possible positive result of the Buy 1 Give 1 model that wasn't mentioned in your article is that of inspiration. Our company is built on the belief that "a better you creates a better world." We say that phrase over and over, and put it on all of our material. For us, if someone interacts with that belief and gets it—really takes it in and begins to live it out—that's a win for our company even if they never buy our products or remember our name.

Thanks for putting your thoughts and wrestlings in writing. It's another piece of the conversation that needs to be happening.

Thanks,
Graham Ripple

Thanks to everyone for your support of Life Equals & the Life=Life Project. We are encouraged that so many of you resonate with what we're doing, and love that the "we're" isn't "Life Equals" but all of us: anyone who believes like we do and is actively creating a better world.

Cheers,
