First Fridays happens the first Friday of each month in Kansas City's Crossroads district. For the evening the Crossroad's
art galleries, studios, and restaurants open their doors to showcase local and national artists.

The Crossroads Community is a mile wide downtown area of Kansas City bounded by 15th St., I-35, the Freighthouse
district, and Troost Ave. The heart of the Crossroads Arts District lies long 20th St. and Baltimore.

Life Equals will be at the Cellar Rat located in the heart of the Crossroads for July's First Fridays this Friday, July 1. We'll
have the Life= Photobooth set up to take our legendary pictures, as well as free samples of Life= Focus+Energy. Oh, and
if you've been eying the sweet Life= shirts, we'll have them there for sale.

Hope to see you friday!!

So, Saturday was just another rainy summer day here in Kansas City, but the Life= Team didn't mind! It was the Jazz in the Woods Race and bummer of all bummers – it got rained out! We didn’t get to reach out to as many people as we had hoped and no, technically, we did not get to run the race. What amazes me and makes me happy is that we still had a fantastic time!

The Life= Photobooth was a hit as always and people huddled under the tents while rain poured down trying to wait it out. We still got goofy, had plenty of mini Chick-Fil-A sammies, fruit and Krispy Kremes, and thank goodness for the post-race beer!

What’s even cooler to my running-addicted self: a group of 5 Life= Racing Team runners went out and ran the 5K! We started in the rain and it sure enough cleared up by the time we were done. I’m thinking we didn’t run the “true course” as there were a lot more loops through parking lots than I remember, but we had an excellent time and the feeling of running as a team was enough to keep us all going.

It all just goes to show – no matter what happens, Life Equals is here to celebrate and spread the word RAIN or SHINE! Cheers to everyone who came out to support and stay tuned for the next big event!!

Below are some pictures of the event (see the entire set on facebook or flickr). Photobooth pictures are coming soon!

I just finished an article by Joe Ippolito on Good.is titled The TOMS Shoe Model: Meaning or Marketing? He had some great things to say, so I wanted to add a little to the conversation by posting a comment on Good. Here is my comment to the article:
Joe,

I really appreciate these thoughts and questions. Responsible business requires thought and asking difficult questions; just slapping the Buy 1 Give 1 model onto a business shouldn't automatically give it the label "they're doing good! Support them!"

As the co-founder of Life Equals, a company that implements the Buy 1 Give 1 model, our team had to ask some serious questions of ourselves and evaluate the ramifications before adopting the model. We started our business with a great product and desire to do social good, but without a specific implementation of that desire. After looking at the particularities of our industry (vitamins & dietary supplements) and the associated global needs, we felt that the Buy 1 Give 1 model fit our intentions as well as provided appropriate aid to those receiving it (in our case: undernourished children receiving multivitamins and nutrients that they otherwise would not have access to).

Though I certainly resonate with your concerns, one possible positive result of the Buy 1 Give 1 model that wasn't mentioned in your article is that of inspiration. Our company is built on the belief that "a better you creates a better world." We say that phrase over and over, and put it on all of our material. For us, if someone interacts with that belief and gets it—really takes it in and begins to live it out—that's a win for our company even if they never buy our products or remember our name.

Thanks for putting your thoughts and wrestlings in writing. It's another piece of the conversation that needs to be happening.

Thanks,
Graham Ripple

Thanks to everyone for your support of Life Equals & the Life=Life Project. We are encouraged that so many of you resonate with what we're doing, and love that the "we're" isn't "Life Equals" but all of us: anyone who believes like we do and is actively creating a better world.

Cheers,

A few weeks ago, we had our Launch Party at the Cashew in the Crossroads District of Kansas City, MO. It was a blast to gather with our friends, family & fans to celebrate Life Equals and the Life=Life Project.

We, of course, had our Photobooth there. It's just far too much fun to not bring it along.

Below are some of our favorites from the evening. You can see the entire set on Facebook or Flickr. Feel free to download and use as you please!

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us!

Tonight is the Life Equals Launch Party at the Cashew (20th & Grand in KCMO).

We know it's mid-week which is never ideal. Plus, it's summer, so you're busy with volleyball leagues, ultimate frisbee, or some other great activity. And, to add insult to injury: it's +90º out there. Who wouldn't rather be in the a/c than running around to some Launch Party!?

So, for a little inspiration to those sitting on the fence, I compiled a quick list of why you should be there. In no particular order:

1. Have you seen the Life= Photobooth Pictures!? They're a blast. Tonight we'll take it to the next level.

2. We like to think we're pretty cool & worth hanging with. (We are. It isn't in question)

3. We'll have free samples of Life= Focus+Energy. Natural. Healthy. Efficient.

4. All Life Equals products are 20% off tonight including apparel & Life= Focus+Energy.

5. The Cashew's 2nd floor is one of our favorite spots in KC. Great space to be with friends old & new.

6. Friends old & new... based on the facebook event all the cool kids are coming.

Looking forward to celebrating with yall tonight at the Cashew starting at 5:30p.
